DOING GOOD BY DOING NOTHING MORE THAN DRINKING BEER
Just like finding the right combination of botanicals to brew our uniquely refreshing drinks, so it is with the natural world. When more is taken out than is given back, the balance needs to be restored. That’s why we introduce the laziest and tastiest way to fight climate change, preserve wildlife & support biodiversity: drinking our beers.
Because for every Lowlander you enjoy we donate to different projects that help to save our planet; from planting CO2-absorbing seagrass meadows in the Waddenzee to turtle rescuing projects in the Pacific Ocean.
So whenever you feel like doing good while doing nothing more than enjoying yourself, have a Lowlander.
NATURE POSITIVE BY 2030
As a botanical brewer with roots in The Netherlands, it is our founding belief that a little bit of Dutch ingenuity combined with the power of nature creates limitless possibilities. At the same time, we are very much aware of the fact that we should never take nature’s beauty and benefits for granted.
In order to keep enjoying nature, we need to protect it for generations to come. That’s why we are taking full responsibility for our actions as we are moving our impact from negative to positive. Championing the global goal for nature, working towards a Nature Positive impact by 2030.
1% FOR THE PLANET
In line with the ambition to become Nature Positive by 2030, Lowlander is a proud member of 1% for the Planet. By donating 1% of all sales, we support a range of nature causes close to our heart. Actively contributing to fighting climate change, conserving biodiversity and preserving wildlife.
1% for the Planet is a global movement, founded on the model of responsible businesses giving back to environmental non-profits to create a healthier, better planet. To date, the 1% for the Planet members have invested over $270 million in environmental non-profit solutions through the 1% for the Planet network.
steps we’ve taken so far…
From the moment we served our very first Lowlander beer to the ultimate goal of becoming Nature Positive by 2030, we will keep you up to date on the steps we’ve taken. Swipe through the timeline below to find out about the progress we’ve made so far and click the polaroids to read more.

HOW WE TAKE LESS
Instead of endlessly taking from our planet, we choose to take care of it more often. By reducing, re-using and recycling wherever we can, we optimise what we have taken before – giving new life and meaning to valuable resources that still have incredible flavour. From repurposing leftover orange peels from bars and restaurants to brewing with Spruce needles coming from discarded Christmas trees.
AND GIVE BACK
As the globe gets warmer, the need for funding of ingenious solutions becomes more urgent too. To compensate all that’s being taken, we give back by becoming proud members of 1% for the Planet. We donate 1% of our sales to a range of nature causes close to our heart. That way we get to support initiatives that fight climate change, conserve biodiversity and preserve wildlife.
TREES FOR ALL
As members of 1% for the Planet, we donate 1% of sales to Trees for All, supporting sustainable forestry projects in the Lowlands and abroad for a healthier climate. At this moment, our CO2 emissions are compensated by this forestry project in Bolivia, helping to restore forest and promoting sustainable land use and better socio-economic conditions.

PROJECT ORANGE ELEPHANT
How do you stop a hungry elephant? With an orange – they don’t like citrus. While enjoying our 0.3% I.P.A. you support Project Orange Elephant helping purchase more orange plants for farmers in rural Sri Lanka. These orange plants prevent elephants from raiding farms and reduce the chance of conflict between farmers and elephants.
WWF
A sea turtle can’t tell the difference between a floating plastic bag and a jellyfish, its natural diet. That’s why the WWF wants to clean up the oceans. So do we, and you can help too. By having a Tropical Ale or 0.3% Tropical Ale you contribute to stop the plastic pollution in nature. This makes it doubly refreshing, doesn’t it?

THE POLLINATORS
Here’s to the bees, butterflies and every other pollinator helping us to keep nature healthy. Since our Organic Blonde Ale is brewed with lemon peel & blossom honey we give back by supporting The Pollinators stimulating pollinating species and increasing biodiversity.
SEAGRASS RECOVERY PROJECT
When we discovered seagrass is such a powerful ally against climate change – capturing carbon 35 times faster than a tropical rainforest – we made a commitment to support the Dutch Seagrass Restoration Project in the Wadden Sea. For every can of Cool Earth Lager we sell, we’re adding a plant to the seagrass meadow in the Wadden Sea.
